Our calm working atmosphere creates well-rounded individuals who excel in the arts, on the sporting field, and academically.
In 2025, our 20th anniversary year, we are delighted to have expanded to include three Thurrock schools in our Federation. We now consist of seven academies:
Mossbourne Community Academy (MCA) secondary and sixth form, Hackney
Mossbourne Fobbing Academy (MFA) secondary and sixth form, Thurrock
Mossbourne Herd Lane Academy (MHA) primary, Thurrock
Mossbourne Parkside Academy (MPA) primary, Hackney
Mossbourne Port Side Academy (MPSA) secondary, Thurrock
Mossbourne Riverside Academy (MRA) primary, Hackney
Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy (MVPA) secondary, Hackney
The Expressive Arts and Technology Learning Area is a thriving and popular area of the academy. All students at the academy study Art, Textiles and Food Technology in Year 7 and 8. In Year 9, students follow a creative elective pathway, where they select two subjects from Drama, Music, Food, Textiles and Art to study in more depth prior to making their GCSE option choices.
The Learning Area is committed to and passionate about enriching our students’ lives through the Expressive Arts. We really do believe in the joy Expressive Arts can bring and believe deeply in creating young, talented artists and food technicians.
In terms of facilities, we have a fully equipped textiles room and Food Tech kitchen-classroom, as well as two Art rooms. We also have two excellent technicians that support the curriculum and our students.
The successful applicant will be passionate about food education and have the drive and ambition to lead and manage a department. They will be well organised, energetic and willing to go the ‘extra mile’. They will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), have a proven track record of successful teaching across different key stages and will believe that all students can succeed in Food Education. They will have excellent knowledge of GCSE Food and Nutrition and continue to build on the strong foundations already in place. The successful applicant may also be required to teach another subject in the Learning Area as part of their timetable.
